Uranium North Resource has begun the drilling at the Mallery gold-silver project, Nunavut. It has planned to drill around 1000 m at the project.
Four outcrop exposures along with mineralized layers over an 800 x 800 m are present at the Mallery project. Geochemical and geophysical data proposes that the regions could be part of one huge structure. The plan of these drill holes is to examine the mineralization continuity at the four regions and a fifth geophysical target.
The CEO and President of the company, has stated that this program has been planned to test the grade, continuity and thickness of the excellent gold and silver veins and are finally testing the occurrence of deposits through an open pit mining prospective.
The company will analyze the thickness and characteristics of the strike of the mineralized zones during the 2011 Mallery drilling program and appraise the distribution and nature of gold in the host rock and veins and assess the frequency and distribution of the mineralized veins. An effort will be undertaken to find out the geological relationship between the gold mineralization and high resistivity.
Comprehensive prospecting and geophysical ground surveying are also scheduled besides drilling. The company will also explore a major gold grain anomaly, which has been discovered 3 km to the south.
Lantech Drilling Services conducts drilling program by using a heli-portable BBS 25A diamond drill.
