Cancor Mines has released additional reports for the recently completed North Tirek exploration program, one of the four gold properties based in Algeria.
The Kiouene gold field located on the Tirek North property is a large field capable of supporting an open-pit operation. During the exploration program, over 1000 channel samples were collected from the base of trenches to test for gold mineralization. The results indicated high grade gold values contained in veins located about 100m to 300m apart.
To assess the viability of the open-pit operation, shallow cuts were prepared in the overburden in order to expose the underlying rock and test them. The objective of this project was to identify mineralized zones and veins located beneath the layer of gravel, determine high-volume mineralization sectors and establish targets and anchor points for a drilling program scheduled to commence in autumn of 2011.
The results of the 271 collected samples indicated presence of high quality gold grades in several of the samples. It also indicated that gold mineralization was present beyond the outcropping as well. The test results also helped determine that gold mineralization is also present in altered granite, microdiorite and syenite, thus opening a window of opportunity for the company.
The Tirek North licence spreads over 98,990 ha. The gold-bearing seams are clubbed together into eight vein-type gold fields within the borders of the Tirek North licence. The Kheima showing are from south to north, the Zone 12, 13, and 17 are the Syenite showing, the South Site is the Kiouène gold field and gold field Number Three.
OMAC Laboratories in Ireland has analyzed all the samples.
