Eastmain Mines is currently performing a 15,000 m drilling campaign at the Eastmain Mine property, which is situated in James Bay, Québec.
The main goal of the drilling is to extend the Eastmain deposit beyond its past resources of 255,750 oz of Au. The company has been finding the high-grade A, B and C gold rich zones containing the deposit from the surface to depths of over 300 m under the surface. The 2011 drill program will examine the expansion of the A and B zones to the depth under 350 m.
The drilling program conducted during 2010 has authenticated that both zones A and B persist vertically and laterally beyond the confinement of the past drilling and expansion of the mine. Moreover, this drilling shows that the Eastmain Mine deposit’s footprint expands to at least 1.8 km length and exists at the break between the two volcanic rock structures, wherein the mineralizing events and main deformation placed considerable amounts of copper, gold and silver.
The historical drill holes totaling 109 located in the A and B zones comprise 0.24% copper, 18.9 g/t gold and 15.9 g/t silver over an average width of 3.93 m. So far, the deposit encountered significant intersections including 0.20% copper, 53.28 g/t gold and 59.2 g/t silver over a depth of 13.2 m vertically in the B Zone.
Moreover, this 2011 drilling will contain surface exploration along the trend of the favorable mine, which is a mineralized rock prospect that expands laterally for over 10 km southeast and northwest of the Eastmain Mine deposit. The former work done by Eastmain and others has proved that there is significant prospects along this trend for further discovery.
