Sunridge Gold has started a further drilling program of 6,000 m at the Gupo Gold deposit, which is situated on the Asmara project in Eritrea.
The results from this additional drilling campaign will form an essential stride in order to complete the current prefeasibility study at the Asmara north deposits, containing the Adi Nefas, Gupo, and Emba Derho deposits.
The company will include approximately 6,000 m in this subsequent drilling phase, which will contain a reverse circulation (RC) of around 5,000 m, totaling 60 drill holes that are spaced closely and a diamond drilling of about 1,000 m, totaling eight drill holes. The objective of this diamond drill holes is to get the data for the pit slope and geotechnical appraisal, drill samples for leach analysis, enhanced geological association between reverse circulation and core samples and to explore the deep expansions, wherein strong mineralization is observed. The company is anticipating the completion of this drill program in 30 days approximately.
A strike length of about 1.6 km of gold mineralization is widening at the Gupo deposit and this mineralization is connected with a sericite alteration corona that is controlled by a 10 to 20 m wide shear zone and stockwork quartz layers. The resource occurs at surface and this drill program has demonstrated the extension of mineralization to at least 80 m depth in a vertical direction and the mineralization stays open to depth.
