NV Gold (NVX) has completed the field part of the Surselva gold exploration campaign conducted in southeast Switzerland. The target of the initial exploration was on the Medel permit region that encloses around 129 sq. km. NVX approved the conditions for the purchase of the Medel permit during August, 2011. The company commenced field works during September.
SwissGold Exploration performed exploration works in Switzerland. Geochemical sampling and geological reconnaissance program were completed during September and October. The company performed exploration works on and near to the Medel permit region.
The geologists of the company were mining several gold existences in the Gotthard and Tavetsch massifs’ crystalline basement rocks. Previous work and present exploration have outlined a particular interest region that measures approximately 2 sq. km. in Val Plattas, which is the region lying in an east-west gold zone expanding for at least 7 km.
A NITON field-portable x-ray fluorescence analyzer was utilized by the field teams for quick 33 chemical element determination. Every outlined element was analyzed to test the bedrock character, its mineral potential and geological history.
The company gathered 309 rock samples from the Medel permit region and contiguous ground. It completed a soil geochemical campaign, wherein soil samples were gathered at spacings of 50 m. NVX has sent all soil and rock samples to ALS Scandinavia in Sweden to prepare and test the samples. Analytical work is pending. The company is anticipating the release of sampling results during February, 2012.
Currently, technical personnel of NVX are gathering previous exploration data and the 2011 field campaign results to a Geographical Information System to conduct critical analysis. NVX is expecting to perform an aggressive exploration at the Surselva project during 2012, which potentially contains continuing diamond core drilling, geological reconnaissance and geochemical surveys.
