WestStar Resources has obtained the initial assays from a rock sampling campaign completed at the La Paloma property, which is situated around 70 km towards the western part of Guadalajara city in Mexico. An outcrop rock chip sample was the potential sample gathered from a mineralized quartz vein present in carbonate and silica altered rhyolite tuff.
The company has encountered 7.81 g/t gold and 311 g/t silver from the sample 11DMP135. Rock channel sampling program conducted continually across this partly open mineralization zone yielded 0.84 g/t gold and 64.1 g/t silver over 6.0 m from the sample Channel 2. These results defined the property’s positive potential.
The company has completed the initial work phase at the La Paloma property. This work contained comprehensive geologic mapping, based on a soil and stream geochemical campaign and a property-wide ground magnetic survey. The company found and documented several underground tunnel entrances and artisanal surface pits from the previous silver and gold mining. Outcrop channel and rock grab samples were gathered from multiple tunnel entrances, though it cannot compile rock samples from the underground workings.
WestStar has obtained assays of gold and silver from 158 rock samples. It is waiting for the analytical results from the further 48 rock samples gathered by APEX Geoscience. Assays from 686 soil samples and 174 stream samples are pending.
Geologic mapping at the La Paloma property has outlined a south-east striking, which is perpendicular to the sharply southwest dipping vein formation (Main Vein) over a strike length of 1 km. A second East vein formation situated 195 m towards the Main Vein’s northeastern part is present over a strike length of around 200 m. A distance of 300 m towards the Main Vein’s southwestern part is a zone of around 100 x 30 m that houses branching quartz veinlet regions and quartz vein breccias called the Ridge Showing.
23 samples yielded more than 0.5 g/t gold or 50 g/t silver from the collected 118 outcrops and talus or boulder rock grab samples. 11 samples out of 23 returned over 1.0 g/t gold, and eight samples yielded more than 100 g/t silver. Six channel samples examined the Northeast and Main veins sporadically along strike.
WestStar is excited to define drill targets from this sampling campaign. The future induced polarity (IP) survey will permit WestStar to drill the targets. Targets have included the Northeast Vein, located around 195 m towards the Main Vein’s northeast part. The company will employ these rock samples to target the drilling sites.
