Manitou Gold has obtained the assay results from the diamond drilling program conducted at the Kenwest project, northwest Ontario. The position of the drill holes are along the newly identified gold-bearing sulphide zone located along the #2 Shear zone.
The company primarily discovered the gold-bearing sulphide mineralization during the surface channel sampling program. The mineralization level has not been outlined completely, as the exposures of the trench are along a low swampy region. The diamond drill program included three holes for assessing the sulphide zone continuity. The company cut 11.9 g/t gold over 2.5 m in the hole KW-11-76, 5.4 g/t gold over 4.5 m in the KW-11-77, which is drilled 40 m behind the hole KW-11-76. The location of these two holes are on the sulphide zone’s northern end, wherein 11.2 g/t gold over 2.0 m, 7.0 g/t gold over 3.5 m, 5.0 g/t gold over 5.5 m, 4.0 g/t gold over 5.0 m, 2.7 g/t gold over3.5 m and 1.4 g/t gold over 6.0 m was encountered as channel sample assay results.
It cut 1.1 g/t gold over 3.1 m in the hole KW-11-78, which is situated on the exposure adjacent to the #2 shaft, on the sulphide zone’s southern end. This hole is around 250 m towards the southwest part of drill holes KW-11-76 and KW-11-77. During the surface channel sampling, the company has encountered 8.9 g/t gold over 3.1 m, 5.7 g/t gold over 4.3 m, 4.7 g/t gold over 5.3 m and 1.1 g/t gold over 5.9 m from the trench.
These drilling results have offered preliminary indications of the sulphide zone continuity at the depth and along the strike. The future winter drilling campaign will examine the complete 250 m strike mineralization level at different depths.
