Mediterranean Resources has discovered two fresh mineralization regions, containing copper and gold, at the Red Mountain project located in Artvin province in Northeast Turkey. The new mineralized zones were discovered from the unexplored segments of the Red Mountain project.
The company found a fresh mineralized zone by means of surface rock sampling around 2.2 km towards the northwest portion of the Corak deposit. The mineralization, including copper, gold and base metal, exist in a 350 x 200 m argillic alteration zone that is trending towards the northwest direction.
The Corak West zone expands prominent mineralization prospective at Corak and offers a chance to create new drill targets to extend the Corak resource.
The company made this discovery during the development of a forestry road in the previous summer season. At which time a wide argillic alteration zone was revealed in the andesitic volcanics.
Cevreli North, which is the fresh mineralized zone, is situated in the Concession 20069647 and has more than 150 m of epithermal, high-sulfidation and copper-gold mineralization. A limited field campaign, including channel and rock sampling, was conducted by Mediterranean at the outcrop of Blocks 2 and 3 and at Block 1, respectively.
The company has demonstrated the wide scale mineralized system at the Red Mountain and has recommended an opportunity for significant extension of the Tac-Corak resource laterally. The Cevreli North mineralized zone is located along the strike of the Tac-Corak trend.
The two fresh discoveries present at Cevreli North and Corak West offer proof for the highly sulfidized epithermal mineralization in the regions, wherein surface sampling and drilling has been not been conducted.
