Scorpio Gold Announces Initial Drilling Results from Mineral Ridge Project’s Mary Zone

Scorpio Gold has reported primary drilling program results from the Mary zone. This zone is situated towards the southwest part of the present mining area in the Drinkwater pit. The location of this pit is at the 70% owned Mineral Ridge project in Nevada.

As stated by Scorpio Gold’s CEO and President, Peter J. Hawley, pre-stripping was started at the Mary zone by the company during November 2011, in order to prepare for the beginning of open pit mining. The location of the Mary zone is immediately towards the Drinkwater Pit’s southwest portion. The company is carrying out a 58 hole drilling campaign to outline the mineralization level for the final design of the pit. The Mary zone’s thickness has been expanded with the results, which have validated the expansion of mineralized gold towards the southwest including a strike of 780 m. The company is expecting to start mining at the Mary zone in the later part of January 2012 and adds to the present production from the Drinkwater pit.

The company intersected 0.81 g/t gold over 3.05 m in MR11275, 8.41 g/t gold over 4.57 m and 2.37 g/t gold over 3.05 m in MR11276, 0.75 g/t gold over 1.52 m in MR11277, 2.31 g/t gold over 6.10 m and 0.55 g/t gold over 1.52 m in MR11278, 3.59 g/t gold over 10.67 m in MR11279, 1.47 g/t and 0.62 g/t gold over 1.52 m in MR11281, 13.06 g/t gold over 4.57 m in MR11282, 2.13 g/t gold over 1.52 m in MR11285, 3.79 g/t gold over 4.57 m in MR11287, 4.66 g/t gold over 3.05 m in MR11291, 0.51 g/t gold over 1.52 m in MR11294 and 2.27 g/t gold over 4.57 m in MR11298.
