Glass Earth Gold has released the initial drilling results from the Muirs Reef prospect in New Zealand. This initial drill program, out of 17 diamond holes, has been planned to discover the gold resources in the Massey Reef area.
The company has announced the Massey Reef drilling results, which outline the expansions to the popular reef systems along strike and at depth. Large colloform banded quartz was drilled by the hole MSDDH 08 over an interval of 17 m.
Glass Earth has encountered 3.35 g/t gold and 2.5 g/t silver over 5 m, 2.46 g/t gold and 2.2 g/t silver over 2 m, 1.58 g/t gold and 1.7 g/t silver over 17 m in hole MSDDH 08, 3.1 g/t gold and 1.7 g/t silver in hole MSTR 13, 5.7 g/t gold and 1.9 g/t silver over 24 m in hole MSTR 06.
The hole MSDDH 09 intersected silicic hydrothermal breccia and quartz veining. The assay results are still pending. The company is currently drilling a third hole, MSDDH 10, 25 m along segment towards the north. Mineralogy and petrology of drill-core and surface samples have shown the deposition of gold at greater levels of an epithermal system.
The Muirs prospect is located 65 km to the Martha mine’s southeast part at the Hauraki Goldfield’s southern end. Until the 1930s, two quartz reefs were explored in the epithermal system, and extracted more than 43,000 oz gold through underground and near-surface works.
The company has specifically designed the ongoing drill program for finding the strike level and depth of a shallow gold mineralization and to discover additional mineralization near the prominent veins.
