VMS Ventures to Start Drilling at Cowan River Project

VMS Ventures has announced the beginning of the drill program at its projects located near Snow Lake. Cowan River, McClarty, Morton Lake and Puella Bay are the projects chosen for this year’s drilling program. The company has awarded the drill contract to Westcore Drilling of British Columbia.

The company will conduct its first drilling at the Cowan River project. The initial drilling will examine the surface time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) anomalies obtained from the recent survey and a fresh target located at the Cowan River zone. Two conductive bodies related with versatile time-domain electromagnetic (VTEM) anomalies were defined through the TDEM survey conducted on the grid’s south portion. The company has planned to examine these targets, using two diamond drill holes.

VMS has planned to drill a hole at the Cowan River zone for analyzing a bore hole (BHPEM) anomaly present under the high-grade discovery of copper during 2011, returning 9.81% copper over 1.37 m and 2.25% copper 6.59 m in hole RE-11-001. The intersection is same as those formations, which host the Reed North zone and the Reed Copper deposit. All three targets in Cowan River exist in a favourable volcanic series located between and the previously producing Spruce Point copper-zinc deposit and the Reed Copper deposit.

The McClarty, Morton and Puella Bay projects will specifically target on drill testing the VTEM aerial anomalies. Depending on the geological prospectivity, geophysical conductivity and coincident magnetic features, the company chose these anomalies. Geology, geophysical and geochemistry databases and historical data are included in the target selection method.
