Rio Alto Mining has announced the assay results of 10 diamond drill (DD) holes and 20 reverse circulation (RC) holes from the La Arena sulphide deposit, which is located in La Arena project in North Peru. As a part of the current feasibility study, the company completed these two drilling programs at the project.
The company encountered 0.97% copper and 0.68 g/t gold over 47 m, 0.60% copper and 0.34 g/t gold over 70 m in hole LA-D11-003, 0.66% copper and 0.36 g/t gold over 72 m, 0.57% copper and 0.37 g/t gold over 166 m in hole LA-D11-016, 0.54% copper and 0.31 g/t gold over 76 m, 0.97% copper and 0.55 g/t gold over 104 m in hole LA-D11-017, 0.73% copper and 0.45 g/t gold over 180 m in hole LA-D11-034.
The company may possibly drill a further of 60,000 m DD drilling, as a part of the La Arena deposit’s feasibility study. The database of the sulphide feasibility study resource calculation will be finished through this drilling program. It is anticipated that this drill program will be completed during August 2012.
The 2011 technical report, which has been filed recently by the company, has defined the updated mineral resource calculations of the sulphide and oxide deposits that contain the La Arena project. Kirk Mining Consultants prepared this technical report for the company.
When the compilation of results is done, Rio Alto will report the assay results of further and upcoming drill holes. The sulphide mineral resource is exposed in all directions and at depth. The company has planned the commencement of analyzing the mineralized sulphide expansion at the La Arena.
