NuLegacy Gold, an exploration company, announced that it has concluded the remaining 10 holes of a 20-hole exploration drilling campaign on the Wood Hills South gold project, which is situated in Elko County, Nevada.
In late 2011, the initial 10 holes of the 20-hole drilling program were concluded, wherein assay results were reported on February 6, 2012. Among these 10 holes, 8 included anomalous gold intervals and positive trace elements with WHS11-007 drill hole returning an oxidized 10.7 m interval averaging 0.40 g/t gold, within 60 m of anomalous gold mineralization with related trace elements.
Similar to the first batch of 10 holes, the remaining 10 holes were drilled on specific geochemical and geophysical anomalies to verify whether additional centers of better gold mineralization are present. Drill samples have been submitted for analysis of gold and 36 trace elements. Results are expected to be available by April end, 2012.
The company has commissioned comprehensive geochemistry and geophysics surveys on WHS11-007 drill hole to aid in scheduling a follow-up drill campaign for the gold mineralization identified so far.
In addition, sampling was done on 488 soil sites in the property’s north eastern part to include detail in the soil geochemical surveys, which were concluded in 2010 and 2011. The entire soil samples have been submitted for analysis of gold and trace elements, and these results are expected to be available by mid-April.
Moreover, the company is conducting a high-resolution microgravity survey in the new soil sampling survey area centered on WHS11-007 drill hole, to outline the regions and structure of potential hydrothermal modification. This microgravity survey will be concluded shortly. Soil sampling and gravity results will be utilized to aid in designing a drilling campaign for the gold intercept in WHS11-007 drill hole.
NuLegacy Gold's COO, Dr. Roger Steininger is supervising the reconnaissance program on the Wood Hills South Gold Project. Nevada-based companies Envirotech Drilling and Zonge Geosciences are conducting the drilling operations and geophysical surveys, respectively.
