MDN Drills at Nikonga Property in Tanzania

MDN has announced the commencement of a drill program at the company’s Nikonga property located in Tanzania.

The program aims to examine the expansion of depth and strike of the gold-bearing intersections from the holes NKD-02 and NKRC-14. The company encountered 12.3 g/t gold over 4.2 m, 10.9 g/t gold over 4.9 m and 4.39 g/t gold over 26.0 m from the hole NKD-02, 14.5 g/t gold over 2.0 m from the hole NKRC-14.

The company has planned to drill 1,300 m, totaling 8 to 10 holes, during the present diamond drill program. The drilling results obtained from the previous program carried out during early 2012 identified two sub parallel structures together with first-grade gold.

Huge tourmaline-quartz veins, quartz veinlets, a clayey sediment, and tourmaline-quartz veinlets within feldspar-quartz porphyry intrusive are the three types of mineralization encountered from the drilling program.

According to MDN’s VP of Exploration, Marc Boisvert, the high-grade intersection, the occurrence of many mineralization styles, the setting and the uniformity of assay results indicate a possibility of large gold-bearing system. The geological setting of the system has the same characteristics as that of the Timmins camp’s great mines, such as Dome and Hollinger.

Since April, in addition to the drill program on Nikonga, the company has been carrying out soil sampling and mapping on a new ground located towards the eastern part of the Ikungu property.

MDN has defined the Ikungu mineralized zone along a strike length of over 2 km and to 200 m depth. The company is looking for a strategic partner in order to speed up the development of the Ikungu project.
