Oremex Silver announced that it has released encouraging results from a surface outcrop sampling campaign carried out at the El Doctor zone, located in the San Lucas silver project. Surface sampling was not formerly performed at the El Doctor zone.
Drilling was conducted nearby during 2007 and is being tested again to gain a better understanding of the potential of the mineralized gold and silver that were previously unrecognized.
The El Doctor zone lies in the San Lucas trend’s middle part, which contains precious metal mineralization. Mineralization with high levels of zinc and lead occurs in the area. Two parallel shear zones, containing silver and gold, can be seen over a strike length of more than 270 m.
The location of mineralized shear zones is around 70 m apart and strike in the northeastern direction. The thickness of the mineralized shear zones ranges from 5 to 10 m. Iron oxides and base metal sulphides related to sericite-quartz alteration differentiate the mineralized zones within volcanic rocks.
The company collected 90 channel samples. The grades of gold vary from 0.02 to 110 g/t. The average grade of gold of the 89 samples is 3.2 g/t. More than 0.50 g/t gold were present in 72 samples out of 90. The average grade of silver among the 89 samples is 51.9 g/t.
SGS Mexico carried out the analyses. Industry standard techniques were employed for the work conducted at the San Lucas project.
