Avrupa Minerals, a junior exploration and development company, has declared it has obtained the Slivovo exploration license from the mining bureau of Kosovo (ICMM). The exploration license has enclosed an enormous sulfide target, which was identified by the company’s geologists in 2011. The license is situated in the Vardar Zone’s Trepça mineral belt.
According to Avrupa’s CEO and President, Paul Kuhn, the regional prospecting campaign in Europe resulted in the Slivovo license acquisition. The renaissance campaign is part of the company’s strategy to purchase potential targets at reduced costs, conclude early exploration work in order to confirm the geological target areas, and finally option the projects to capable partners to conduct additional work and potential discoveries, Kuhn stated.
The geological team of the company completed first-pass sampling, reconnaissance-style geological mapping and prospecting at the Koritnik license, located in the south of Kosovo. Preliminary results of sampling have shown the potential for precious metal mineralization associated with the parallel structures, trending towards the northeast, intersecting the Sharr-Dragash complex’s intrusive rocks. The company is anticipating additional sample results at the earliest.
The company continues to consider the potential for joint venture for the exploration program at the Kosovo license. A minimum of four base metal target areas upon three individual licenses are ready for drilling program. Other three licenses include early phase precious and base metal potentials.
