Scorpio Gold has reported that it has received preliminary results from the 2012 drill program carried out at the Mary LC zone, which is situated near the Mary pit.
A drill hole plan
Pre-stripping is being conducted at the Mary pit in order to begin complete open pit production at the Mineral Ridge project, located in Nevada. Production from the Mary pit will expand the present production from the Drinkwater pit.
According to Peter J. Hawley, Scorpio Gold’s CEO and President, the company’s first drilling program of 2012 at the Mary LC zone has focused on a formerly un-drilled region that was considered to be sterile ground between the Mary LC zone and the present operations at Mary pit. The company believes that the Mary LC zone and the Mary deposit show one continuous mineralization zone in view of encouraging results. The present drill program is specifically designed to assist the Mary pit design alteration that expands the pit wall from its present intended site planned location.
The company encountered 3.60 g/t gold over 4.57 m in hole MR12392; 7.06 g/t gold over 3.05 m in hole MR12394; 0.82 g/t gold over 1.52 m in hole MR12396; 2.92 g/t gold over 7.62 m in hole MR12397; 1.30 g/t gold over 3.05 m in hole MR12399; and 2.71 g/t gold over 1.52 m in hole MR12400.
The company’s exploration work has found that Mary LC, Drinkwater and Mary zones indicate one continuous mineralized zone. The drilling results were obtained from a region, which was not drilled formerly.
Scorpio drilled all the holes by reverse circulation (RC) drill program. Nevada-based American Assay Laboratory (AAL) carried out the analytical results.
