West Kirkland Mining Starts Drilling at Long Canyon Trend Properties

West Kirkland Mining has announced that drill program has been commenced at the Long Canyon Trend properties situated in Nevada. The company will complete preliminary drilling of about 2,500 m at the Toano and 12 mile showings by September.

The drill campaign will examine fresh gold mineralization identified at surface, which is related to the Long Canyon trend’s main stratigraphic contacts.

Currently, six drill pads have been constructed on the 12 Mile showing. The company developed the target areas at 12 Mile through sampling and mapping. Mineralized gold has been observed in the similar stratigraphic position like the TUG deposit, which is situated 10 km towards the eastern part. Mineralization has been found in a drill pad, where an average grade of 1.00 g/t silver and 0.33 g/t gold over 29.0 m was returned from the samples.

Drilling at Toano will examine target areas having same geological setting to the adjacent Long Canyon gold deposit. An 8 km long gold and related pathfinder anomaly along with rock samples were defined from 3,460 soil samples found at the property. The company has planned to move a second drill rig towards the Toano property.

West Kirkland intends to drill about 1,500 m at 12 Mile showing during the phase I drill program and about 1,000 m at Toano showing. The target areas for preliminary drill program at 12 Mile showing are sharply dipping structures that intersect the Guilmette formation. Comprehensive mapping program has discovered a structural corridor having structures trending towards northeast and jasperoids with more gold and pathfinder elements in soils.
