Victoria Gold Completes Draft Screening Report for Eagle Gold Project

Victoria Gold, an emerging producer of gold, has declared that the Yukon Environmental and Socio-Economic Assessment Board (YESAB) has completed the draft screening report for the Eagle gold project, located in Central Yukon.

As per the Yukon Environmental and Socio-Economic Assessment Act (YESAA), the company considers the delivery of this project report as an important milestone. This report concludes that in view of this evaluation, the Executive Committee has suggested the Decision bodies to allow the project to begin without an assessment, with respect to terms and conditions given in this report.

The company is expecting to complete the project’s environmental assessment in the first quarter of next year. This draft screening report is believed to be one of the final phases to complete the environmental review and receive a quartz mining license. On-site construction works are expected to commence during the spring season of 2013.

Victoria Gold’s Director and Chief Executive Officer, John McConnell stated that the company is developing the Eagle gold deposit steadily since its acquisition in June 2009, and is achieving several permitting, mining, expanding and financing milestones. Though the report is completed, the company will remain steadfast in its goal of constructing and commissioning the Eagle Gold Mine, in which expected production is more than 200,000 oz gold per annum.

McConnell added that the company wants to thank those who supported the evaluation process, which includes Environment Canada, the First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Yukon Conservation Society, the Yukon Government and other stakeholders. All parties participated in the process which proved advantageous and enhanced the project. The Eagle project, as reviewed under YESAA, will be providing important benefits to all the people in Yukon in the future.
