The Hungarian Government is taking control of the MAL Hungarian Aluminium Production and Trade Company. The alumina plant which released a devastating tide of toxic sludge has been responsible for the Parliament approving a bill which would allow the government to take control of private companies in disaster situations.

Energy Resources of Australia (ASX:ERA) has downgraded its 2010 production guidance as it said that the uranium ore grade was lower than expected. This is the second time it has downgraded its annual production guidance this year.

Xstrata Technology's IsaMills have been selected for the new magnetite processing circuit being developed at Xstrata Copper's Ernest Henry Mine in Queensland, Australia. The new circuit is part of the planned upgrade at the minesite as it transforms its mining operations from open pit to underground mining.
India is looking abroad to secure its uranium supply by acquiring mines outside the country. With nuclear energy emerging as viable option which could help meets the growing needs of energy for the world it was important for India to be prepared.
