Archean Star Resources has completed the second diamond drill hole at 296 m, during the ongoing drilling conducted at the Turnberry gold prospect in Gnaweeda. Gap Geophysics, Australia has been contracted by the company to perform a sequence of SAM surveys at the Gnaweeda gold project, which is located in the Murchison Gold Belt, West Australia.
The mineralization in West Australia depends largely on remote sensing methods when compared to other places of the world because bedrock is minimally exposed in flat terrane, which is extensively enclosed by transported cover and saprolite nature of the bedrock lying underneath. The company will start the SAM surveys at the Bunarra, CGS11, Far East, Turnberry and St. Anne's prospects during the third week of 2012 January.
Sub-Audio Magnetics (SAM) is a high-definition geophysical method dependent on improved Australian magnetometer technology, which has been widely employed in Australia to map the lithology and sub-surface structure in several geologic environments.
SAM is capable of finding the structures concealed by the highly weathered overburden and along with the previously performed ultra-detail aeromag survey, surface mapping, IP survey, and the information from the broad drill database, will help to establish Gnaweeda’s fresh geologic map model.
This new geologic model will be used to define the recent drill target areas and to assist the re-assessment of the wide mineral prospective of Gnaweeda that has the potential for the deposits of gold, copper and silver.
The Meekatharra gold field has produced around 3.5 Moz of gold. Recently, Reed Resources has found further resources of around 3.29 Moz of gold, which includes gold, copper and silver prospect located around 3 km towards the western part of the Bluebird mill, and about 7 km to the southern part of Meekatharra town. Doray Minerals has announced gold resource of 329,000 oz around 40 km towards the northern part of the Meekatharra gold field, which is situated in the Andy Well project.
