Hunter Bay Minerals Receives Additional Channel Sampling Results from Sela Creek

Hunter Bay Minerals has reported that it has obtained additional results from the channel sampling program conducted at the Cambior and Jons Pit prospects located at Sela Creek project.

Sela Creek licence and priority target location.

The results obtained from the hole CH038 in Jons pit are important. Recently, the area has been re-worked and has opened a mineralized zone of larger thickness by artisanal miners. Previously, this mineralized zone was partly opened, as it was enclosed by overburden and tailings. Several regions stay along strike from popular mineralization located in the Jons Pit prospect. Excellent targets for exploration are represented in these zones.

Many artisanal pits are present in the Jons Pit and have been dug along a shear zone trending towards the northwest part along with at least 1.5 km of strike. The thickness of the shear zone’s mineralized segments is up to 16 m. Mineralized gold is related with silica-limonite altered schist along with dispersed voids.

The company encountered 5.82 g/t gold over 1.0 m and 2.51 g/t gold over 10.0 m in hole CH038, 6.50 g/t gold over 1.0 m, 3.14 g/t gold over 4.0 m in hole CH039, 6.11 g/t gold over 1.0 m and 3.25 g/t gold over 4.0 m in hole CH043 from the Jons Pit prospect.

A 10 m thick sheeted quartz vein zone has been exploited at the Cambior Pit by artisanal miners. Generally, veins dip in the sub-vertical direction and are located at the contact inferred between a schist and granitoid. Hunter Bay has returned 6.05 g/t gold over 1.0 m, 51.37 g/t gold over 1.0 and 26.58 g/t gold over 2.0 m in hole CH040 from Cambior Pit.

The sampling results have defined drilling targets at Cambior, Puma and Jons Pit prospects. The company has completed the channel sampling program at these prospects and the focus of exploration will be on the 5000 m drilling program due to begin in the second quarter of 2012. Soil sampling program is continuing in areas of interest located along strike from artisanal works.
