Northern Tiger Resources, a resource exploration firm based in Canada, has reported that it has started a diamond drill program at the company’s 3Ace project, located in the Southeast Yukon. The company has completed the initial two holes at the Main zone, wherein the 2011 program yielded up to 106.2 g/t gold over 1.0 m and 4.6 g/t gold over 35.0 m.
According to Northern Tiger’s President, Greg Hayes, the drill rig is presently turning and the company is expecting to follow up the excellent results obtained from the Main Zone and intends to conduct drill testing on fresh target areas in order to show the possible size of the mineralized system located at 3Ace property.
The initial drill holes are concentrating on the extension of the Main zone down-dip and along strike. Mineralized gold identified at the Main zone has now drilled a strike of length 220 m and is associated with a sharply dipping shear zone that has an en echelon array of vein sections, connected by stockwork breccias and veins. Following this, the drill rig will be moved to examine fresh gold target areas present on the 3Ace property, where the company has defined wide gold-in-soil anomalies over a region of 9 sq. km.
The company delayed the drilling commencement, because of a huge snow pack and subsequent melting. The Yukon Government quickly reacted to this situation and the access road is currently open. When the program was delayed, the company continued the surface exploration campaign, including prospecting, trenching and sampling.
