Yamana Gold Expands Resources

Yamana Gold has said that it is likely to boost production at two new gold mines it owns. New discoveries made during exploration may raise the level of the production estimated at the feasibility study stage.

The Mercedes silver and gold project located in Mexico is due to start production in 2012. The exploration at the mine has found significant new resources as per the mid tier gold mining company. The expansion of the new Diluvio zone in the Lupita vein system and of the Lagunas zone are intended.

The second mine which would help increase gold production for the Toronto based company is the Pilar gold project in Brazil. At the mine new discoveries could extend its life considerably. The deposits in the mine double dip length from 450 meters to 850 meters. The mine is likely to begin production in 2013.

At the Pampa Augusta Victoria mine in El Penon in Chile the extension of Victoria and Victoria Este vein systems will support an initial mineral resource estimate in a completely new area for discovery. Yamana Gold has said that its exploration program for the year 2011 will be aggressive based on the results seen this year.
