Midway Gold Identifies Multiple High-Grade Intercepts at Tonopah Project

Midway Gold has found several high-grade gold intercepts through drilling conducted at the Discovery zone, which is located in the Tonopah Project in Nevada.

The company has intersected 334.9 g/t gold over 0.4 m, 78.41 g/t gold over 1.5 m and 7.68 g/t gold over 45.9 m in the hole MW11-09c, 88 g/t gold over 0.5 m and 2.02 g/t gold over 47.9 m in the hole MW11-05c, 17.5 g/t gold over 2.7 m and 4.83 g/t gold over 21.6 m in the hole MW11-07c, 1.99 g/t gold over 52.4 m in the hole MW11-04c, 2.67 g/t gold over 46.6 m in the hole MW11-08c, 1.13 g/t gold over 44.5 m in the hole MW11-06c, 2.09 g/t gold over 30.5 m in the hole MW11-11c.

Midway’s COO and President, Ken Brunk, stated that the company is delighted with the encouraging drilling results from the Discovery zone. Drilling of 2011 validated the existence of high-grade gold zones in a low-grade extended gold mineralization. Different mining processes are thus allowed, which has included underground or open pit techniques and the best method was chosen for the project.

The location of this Tonopah project is approximately 15 mi. to the northern part of the Tonopah town in Nevada. Midway has utilized core drilling in its 2011 drill campaign to closely outline the structurally controlled mineralization that were partly examined through reverse circulation drilling. Comprehensive core drill program was necessary to discover the orientation and true thickness of the veins. The total length of the drill campaign is 3,970 m, in which 609 m at the 63-77 zone, 902 m at the 121 zone, 1,562 m at the Discovery zone, 652 m at the Dauntless zone and 245 m in a geotechnical hole located adjacent to the future mine shaft location. Additional zone assays are pending.

KB drilling of Nevada performed the core drill program. ALS-Chemex tested the samples through 30 g fire assays. Florin Labs in Nevada completed the metallic screen assays.
